finally the name of the school of music will not be hansadhwani, as someone has already taken that name and registered it but AVAROHI. all else remains the same and the first version of the school will start working from hansadhwani itself :)

defining HAA

I have been asked a very pertinent question- how is HAA going to be any different from the rest of the institutions of the same sort, in the business already. In response to that I have the following observations to make-

1. The most important focus of Hansadhwani is not just art, but alternative uses of art. In other words whereas most other institutions are teaching art for the sake of art, Hansadhwani would be teaching art for the sake of health, education, values and so forth. With this focus being clearly defined, in addition to art pedagogy one would like to focus on the other issues in the life of those who are a part of Hansadhwani.
2. Hansadhwani is all inclusive- we wish to reach out to some part of everyone- whether it be by way of singing, dancing, painting, story-telling, craft, puppettery, clay-modelling, movement, theatre or what have you. We would especially want to reach out to the ones who are marginalised and ignored- the housewives, the elderly, the handicapped and those who cannot move out of their homes.
3. Hansadhwani would be a neighbourhood affair- hopefully in most neighbourhoods and easily accessible.
4. The basis of Hansadhwani is NOT art alone but communication- and we intend to empower by communication- by teaching one or another method of communication.
5. Since we are addressing the human mind by and large, we will always have the scope for offering services of counsellors in our outlets. So this makes HAA a lot more than an art institution as we are looking at the larger level of welfare of individuals and not just the immediate level of imparting a training in art or craft.

What is Hansadhwani?

Hansadhwani is an abbreviated version of Hansadhwani-Art Alternatives:a proprietorship firm about to take off soon and one that will work between the interface of the arts, psychology and health.

Anything and everything that affects the human being whether it be pollution, water-scarcity or environment related issues are of interest to HAA. We may contribute to it by creating awareness, by active lobbying or by raising funds for any or all of such issues that we think affect human mind or human health.

HAA is a private enterprise and it is being formed with the objective of generating income, employment and engagement. As we grow over time, we expect that more and more people would come in our purview and not all would be able to afford our services- which naturally come with a price-tag. We would invite other sponsors to support such people or in time branch off ourselves into either an NGO that completely does charity work or a section of our own doing CSR (this decision will be left to the concerned people as and when it is necessary)

Hansadhwani is still being gestated in one or more minds. And while that happens and while newer pathways are being created to generate resources I write this blog. For now I have designed a letter-head and a logo for Hansadhwani. Whatever else i am going to do will slowly keep trickling here on this blog. Keep coming back.
